TV Medium Truths, Proofs & Appointments

We have all heard & seen  the wave of TV shows bringing psychic & medium abilities mainstream, but; is all the hype helping or hurting those of us who are true "non tv" mediums? Is what you see on these shows real & why is it so difficult to get an  appointment?
I recently did a session with a very nice lady who opened my eyes & really made me think about this. Many of us remember seeing Sylvia Browne on Montel or John Edward on Crossing Over, but now we see everything from TLC's Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo on DR OZ & even late night shows  & Anderson Cooper have all joined the bandwagon. There are all kinds of
paranormal shows like Ghost Hunters & even a pet psychic show.  These  TV psychics & mediums seem spot on with every reading, but is what we see on TV real?  Is this really how it is for other mediums? Is all that hype helping those of us working & making a living using this gift every day?  Sort of!
Yes, I love those TV mediums & enjoy watching any show they are on & I cry along with everyone else every time.  I appreciate them having the nerve to go on TV in front of millions to represent us all by showing the world what we do. I think in many ways they have opened the minds & hearts of many & that's a beautiful thing. DR Oz even had a brain specialist who did brain scans on Theresa Caputo while she did a session & then after the session, proving that patterns are different in mediums while doing a
session& not just different but should never appear in a person the way they do while doing a reading - ultimately proving something is going on in our minds when we connect to the afterlife, something DRs can't explain but say we could not possibly control ourselves. In many ways these shows have helped us; however, in many ways they haven't.
I get many calls from people barely getting through life & I feel for every one of them, but the worst are the ones who paid hundreds & in some cases thousands of dollars to people claiming to be mediums but were not. It saddens me that there are people pretending to have abilities & cashing in on other's pain, the tv hype has brought these so called mediums out in drones, they are nothing more than con artists & it's making it difficult for those of us who can do what we say; naturally because so many now claim to have this gift, people are afraid & don’t know who to trust; it’s heartbreaking. In addition these shows (even the reality TV type) aren't always as they seem, they are edited-very edited. I am not saying they are lying, the people are real, the abilities are real, but it often is portrayed that sessions are short& straight to the point, which is rarely the case. I often get exact info straight away when doing sessions but sometimes it takes much longer than you see on these shows & the info comes through a bit differently too. Most of the time, a session lasts quite a bit longer because I am trying to get the validation for my client (and not just general info but specific details), and while I am usually successful, it takes  much longer & is much more difficult than portrayed in these edited shows.
Finally, getting an appointment with a TV Medium, Psychic, Ghost Hunter, etc......this is the biggest problem, people are misguided & often believe that only the mediums on TV are good enough to do an appointment with, they think because others are not famous, we are not good. This is simply not true. There are many mediums, myself included, who are just as good, maybe even better than some on TV. We either chose not to pursue TV, don't want to expose our family, or maybe haven't had a producer interested in us, that certainly doesn't mean we aren't good mediums. It is very difficult to get on a waitlist for tv mediums (several years sometimes) & the fees are often close to $1000 (some are more), many are busy writing books, doing large venues ($100+ per ticket) for huge audiences & only a select few attendees actually get a reading.  I am not referring to a specific medium or show on tv, nor am I upset with these shows in general - if the right show idea came my way, I would certainly consider it too, I am just saying the recent burst in tv shows about psychics, mediums, ghosts, & the afterlife have both helped & hurt those of us trying to make a living  by helping others! Please don't think I am asking you not to watch these shows, most seem genuine & I will be watching them all! Just asking you to remember, things aren't always exactly the same in the real world, reality TV is still TV after all :)
